Welcome to the Working Group on Girls

— Kimberly Happich Moloche, Board Chair

On behalf of the Board, I warmly welcome you to WGG — a space where girls’ voices, visions, and leadership take center stage. We believe in a world where every girl, in all her diversity, can exercise her full rights, shape her future, and make a lasting impact in her community and beyond.

Together with girls, member organizations, and partners, we advocate for policies, programs, and opportunities that empower girls to lead, learn, and thrive. Every story, every voice, and every achievement reminds us of the extraordinary potential of girls when they are supported, heard, and included.

We invite you to explore our work, join our mission, and stand with us in building a world where girls are not only seen and valued but are driving change. The future is theirs — and together, we can help make it brighter.

Mission

Our Commitment

We are committed to advancing the rights and status of girls globally and at every stage of their lives. Our mission includes ensuring that girls are included as equal participants in all decisions that impact them. Through our WGG Member organizations, we support girls in developing their full potential and provide them with opportunities to advocate their rights within the United Nations systems and structures. Together, we can create a brighter future for girls everywhere.

Our Work

We work in partnership with girls to advocate for ongoing inclusion and development of their rights and dignity through the UN systems. We ensure that national governments fulfill their commitments to girls' as outlined in international agreements, through effective policy statements, program development and resource allocation. Additionally, we actively recruit and welcome new organizations to help us set and achieve goals essential for realizing this mission

Our Impact

The Working Group on Girls (WGG) is a global coalition of organizations committed to advancing the human and legal rights of girls everywhere. By centering girls as key stakeholders in policy and advocacy spaces, WGG elevates their voices before international institutions and accelerates progress toward gender justice. Over the years, WGG has amplified girls’ leadership in global conversations at the United Nations and other global platforms, particularly through the annual International Day of the Girl (IDG) Summit and related campaigns.

These platforms unite girls and girl-serving organizations worldwide, fostering collaboration, raising awareness, and influencing action on issues such as gender-based violence, access to education and health services, economic opportunities, and justice.

Upcoming Events

Stay tuned for our upcoming events that aim to bring the global community together, raise awareness about issues affecting girls and young women, and promote unity among supporters of WGG.
